Argan Oil’s Holistic Properties

As a definition, holism represents the recognition of treatment of whole systems instead of dissected parts, or rather, medicine that attempts to treat the mind and body. Modern medicine focuses on isolated parts of the human body, labeling symptoms as diseases or disorders and working towards oppressing and minimizing those symptoms. The holistic approach to medicine recognizes symptoms or dysfunctions as imbalances within the body and it trying to regain homeostasis (equilibrium). Rather than suppressing imbalances in the body, holistic treatments aid and assist the body in recovering from the imbalance on its own by seeking out the cause, whether it be environmental, physical, behavioral, etc.

The main underlying theme of the holistic approach to medicine is that healing occurs within. That is to say that the human body is perfectly capable of healing itself of many afflictions. For millennia the human species has relied on the use of herbalism and shamanism to treat afflictions. Shamanism has been demonstrated to have the capacity to aid the body in treating symptoms. The effects lie within the cognition of the brain. Shamanism can potentially give the body a boost of confidence and aid in mentally or emotionally caused symptoms like depression. However, it has been noted that firm belief in the powers of shamanism are necessary. Herbalism has generated many medicinal properties worldwide without the issues of faith or religion playing on the effects. It is important to remember that misuse of herbal medicines can result in a non-holistic approach to medicine. Replacing pharmaceuticals with herbal variations can result in driving the imbalances deeper in the body and therefore harder to retrieve. Always be sure to consult a licensed practitioner when utilizing herbalism in treating disease.

Another aspect of holistic treatments is acupuncture. Today, many chiropractors and massage therapists are including acupuncture in their treatments due to the data collected on the beneficial effects of acupuncture. The theory behind acupuncture is that the body is controlled and regulated by energy called qi or chi. Imbalances of qi throughout the body can result in disease. Acupuncture corrects these imbalances by removing invisible obstructions to allow better flow of energy. Another and little known holistic medicine is Ayurveda medicine. The underlying basis of Ayurvedic medicine is the use of the five elements, fire, water, earth, air, and space (or ether), and the seven types of body tissue, flesh, adipose, blood, plasma, bone, marrow, and nervous/reproductive tissue. Ayurveda also stresses the three energies or humors labeled, wind, bile, and phlegm, all of which are comprised of different combinations of the five elements. Perfect equilibrium of the three humors in the body results in perfect health, while any imbalance may lead to disharmony. Ayurvedic medicine works to regain this equilibrium when treating patients utilizing herbology and some mysticism.

Argan Oil Fights Eczema

Argan oil, also called Moroccan Oil or Liquid Gold, is the miracle skin and hair supplement that hails from the arid regions of Morocco, but you may already know this. You may also know that argan oil is edible; in fact the argan nut was first introduced to Europeans during the middle ages as a candy or snack. The versatility of this precious and rare oil lies within the molecular properties of the oil itself. Argan oil is rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, more so than Shea butter, making argan oil the best organic moisturizer known to man.

Fatty acids have also been scientifically proven to have anti-inflammatory properties. Fatty acids calm skin tissue, causing it to lose the heat that attracts histamine and prevents the urge to itch. Over the counter hydrocortisone ointments will help treat eczema however there are problems with side effects and other matters like the fact that it is poisonous if ingested, so it therefore is harmful if enough of it enters the blood stream. Argan oil is organic, not made in a lab, and is even edible so you worry about toxicity, especially when treating your children. Cod liver oil also has anti-inflammatory properties however it lacks the moisturizing capabilities of argan oil which is so very needed to prevent further cracking of skin.

Argan oil by itself has the capability to clear up most cases of eczema within a couple of weeks however it is best when used with probiotics, as these greatly help with rebuilding internal tissue. This is actually a very crucial part of treating eczema at home with a holistic approach, instead of utilizing expensive and sometimes slow working chemical ointments. Probiotics work to prevent eczema from coming back. Argan oil is great for treating eczema on the surface, yet this may not prevent outbreaks in the future. Many people with eczema also have food allergies (dairy, soy, wheat, fish, etc.) which tend to catalyze or worsen eczema. Probiotics are natural supplements that are actually bacteria that help the immune system fight combative allergens as well as aid in digestion of foods. As demonstrated with probiotics, not all bacteria produce harmful effects. Argan oil is great for treating eczema outbreaks and sores but when used with probiotics, there is no better holistic treatment for eczema.

Although most people are unaware of this, argan oil first became known to the modern world as a delicacy and not for cosmetic uses. During the 16th century, delegate Moroccans to an international festival in France brought argan nut trees and provided them to the public, creating quite the sensation that still leaves us fascinated some 500 years later. However this wasn’t the first account of the argan tree in western history, several American and European travelers have brought back home reports of the argan tree and the use of its nuts in Moroccan diet and cosmetology.

Using argan oil as a treatment for hair and skin, or even as a supplement, has tremendous beneficial effects that lie in the miraculous components of the oil itself. Argan oil is vastly rich in vitamin and essential fatty acids, more so than Shea butter, and is more resistant to oxidation than olive oil. These same properties that make argan oil great for skin and hair treatment are the same properties that make it great in diets. Cooking with argan oil is much more nutritional and healthy than cooking with any other oil, like olive or peanut oil. In addition, argan oil is very aromatic which makes not only the healthy alternative to other oils, but also a better tasting one as well. The Berbers (indigenous Moroccans) have utilized argan oil in baking bread for centuries. In addition, and much like Italians with olive oil, Berbers would dip the bread into argan oil mixed with vinaigrette’s and other herbs and spices. The oil is also used with couscous and as a salad dressing. A delicacy of the Berbers is amlou, a thick spread similar to peanut butter that is made by grinding roasted almonds with argan oil manually using stones. Amlou is also used in dipping breads.

In addition, the consumption of argan oil has been known to fight many afflictions of the body including various cancers, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. Recent studies have even shown that argan oil rich diets are known to reduce cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, especially when compared to animal fat rich diets. Thanks to the plentiful essential fatty acids in argan oil, the oil has largely anti-inflammatory properties that make it a great active ingredient when treating such medical issues like eczema. Argan oil is also completely harmless to the immune system, which allows the oil to work in harmony with probiotics, strengthening your immune system and dramatically enhancing your everyday health.

Argan Shampoo

When a woman goes to shop for a hair care product in today’s cosmetology market, she literally has thousands and thousands of choices to choose from. Everything from your everyday, well-known, household name brands to the most expensive and sought after commercial products in the world. Some products you can only buy at salons themselves, but the majority can be found at your local supermarket or beauty supply store. With all these options available you would ask, why would someone ever want to make their own shampoo. There are actually many benefits to making your own shampoo. The first and most obvious reason is that it will in most cases save you money. Especially if you have a large volume of hair and use a lot of shampoo or you have a large family.

Making your own shampoo will keep your costs down tremendously. Another benefit to making your own shampoo that is right up there with saving money is the fact that most all commercial shampoo and conditioner products contain some kind of chemicals, dyes, scents, and other synthetic solvents to try and increase the benefit to your hair. The FDA does not have any regulations on these large high production companies that allow them too add whatever they want to their product without the consumer having any knowledge of the side effects. Making your own shampoo is much safer because you are in control of making sure that the shampoo is made with one hundred percent natural ingredients. Using only natural ingredients also allows you to keep all of the chemicals that are in the commercial brand from entering the water system.

With only natural ingredients going down the drain making your own shampoo is good for the environment. The next benefit is somewhat controversial, but the majority say that homemade shampoo works much better than the commercial brands. The effectiveness of your homemade shampoo relies highly on two different things, the recipe that you chose to make your shampoo and the type of hair that you have. Each recipe affects a certain hair style differently, some are specifically made for individual hair types. Regardless of what recipe you choose, if done correctly your homemade shampoo should make it the easy choice over the store bought commercial brand. One other benefit of homemade shampoo is that it actually better for your entire home. The pipes that run the water to and from your house can over time become highly damaged by certain chemicals that are added to some products. Which in the big picture could cost you lost of money in damages down the road.

Now begs the question, How do you make you own shampoo?? In reality there all thousands of great recipes that all have their different qualities and benefits. One of the most common recipes is for a Castile shampoo. The recipe is actually quite simple:

You need one quarter cup of water, one quarter cup of liquid Castile soap, and a half teaspoon of Moroccan Argan Oil. Other recipes use different types of derived nut and seed oils, but for the highest quality for the money you can’t beat one hundred percent pure Moroccan Argan Oil. Next take all of the ingredients and mix them into a plastic bottle and shake until well mixed and that’s all. To make larger quantities make the appropriate ingredient adjustments.

We love argan oil, and hope you do too! If you are in the industry and have a blog/website – shoot us an email at info@purearganoil.net and we will show you how you can contribute to the industry.

Global Demand for Argan Oil

Over the last couple of years , there has been a severe demand for an “out of this world” oil that comes from Morocco called Argan Oil. This rare oil has become such a sought after product that they dubbed it with the name “Liquid Gold”. Since the high spike in popularity the oil has come under much scrutiny to its extensive list of benefits. The oil which is almost the color of honey, has a flavor that resembles Hazelnuts The benefits have been shown to help man aspects of the human body both internally and externally. Argan oil comes in two different grades or forms.

One form is used for cosmetic applications and the other is used in the culinary world for many internal and medicinal purposes. The form that is used in culinary venues is first fired to bring out the smoky flavor in the oil. When taken internally pure argan oil is said to help fight certain cancers, cardiovascular disease and other heart problems, and a long list of inflammatory disorders ranging from acne to severe psoriasis. When applied to the body externally the benefits are endless. It gives dry dull looking hair life again, it moisturizes the skin better than any lotion, and helps promote growth to the nails and keep them strong and healthy. Out of all the applications for argan oil, which of it’s amazing qualities is the most beneficial?? There are of course arguments that go both directions.

Most of the opinions are based on personal experiences and what they initially used the product for. There are a large number of doctors that are advocating the internal benefits of this golden oil. On top of all the medicinal qualities of argan oil it is also used as an essential fatty acid replacement for nuts, sesame oil, and olive oil. Some are even telling their patients to take argan oil instead of fish oil as a replacement regimen for omega threes. Although all the health benefits the vast majority of the argan oil buzz is the cosmetic use, primarily for the hair.

All over the world but primarily in the United States and France, salon owners eveywhere are dying to get there hands on pure Moroccan argan oil. The benefits to the hair have caused the demand for the oil to go so high that consumers are willing to pay upwards of forty dollars for one ounce of the product. For the Moroccan oil to be sold as pure it must be strictly scrutinized by the Moroccan government before they even let it leave the country. These guidelines are in order so that no company that decides to cut the pure oil with filler agents and other chemicals can sell their product as a Moroccan oil based product. Hands down pure Moroccan argan oil is one of the hair industries finest revolutions of all time and the surface has just been touched and already there are people lining up in droves to get there own “taste” of what this precious oil has to offer.

Argan Oil’s Variety of Purposes

Let’s face it, today’s society is all about looking younger. There are millions of products targeted towards skin treatment and it’s no wonder when the facial treatment industry is a multibillion dollar a year industry. Wrinkles and blemishes are constantly under scrutinization and it seems as though we spend years trying to make the years less visible. We even love to give ugly names to our wrinkles like “crow’s feet” and “stress lines.” Blemishes can be disfiguring as acne carves into our faces over the years. Improper treatment of skin may result in irreversible damage that can result in a dramatic loss in self-esteem. When it comes to skin treatments, only the best products contain argan oil.

Argan oil is vastly rich in vitamin E and fatty acids, notorious ingredients in skin care. There is no better, natural way to treat your skin than with argan oil. Wrinkles result from exhausted cells in the face unable to produce enough carotene, resulting in a loss of elasticity. Blemishes are actually compiled of scar tissues. Only argan oil can work to give elasticity back to your skin and remove scar tissue. The way argan oil works is with the vitamin E and essential fatty acids working into your skin refueling and revitalizing your skin, bringing it back to life and erasing scar tissue. Before buying products with argan oil, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Argan oil is also called Moroccan oil (as well as liquid gold) due to the fact that argan trees exclusively grow in Morocco. Moroccan law dictates that companies creating and distributing products containing argan oil must use 100% pure argan oil. That being said, only companies that buy their argan oil from local Moroccan farms can guarantee 100% pure argan oil. Some companies will state that they use 100% pure argan oil without buying from a Moroccan farm, but these are untrue statements. Utilizing pure argan oil is a must as the others won’t work half as well, if at all. Purearganoil.net is launching a brand of argan oil products and we exclusively buy our argan oil from a Moroccan farm.

Be very careful to ensure that any argan oil product you buy is completely organic. Synthetic chemicals used in skin treatment can have disastrous effects including birth defects and damage to health. Only organic skin treatments can guarantee no side effects with using their products. Be sure to look for the green USDA Organic Label as well as the Vegan label to ensure that no animal byproducts are being used as well.

Don’t Get Fresh: Argan Soaps

Argan Oil Soaps or sometimes refereed to as “argan soap” is the latest trend in argan oil products. If you are familiar with argan oil, you are probably aware of the various uses of argan oil, including dietary, skin treatment, and hair treatment. The only anti-aging and anti-blemish products that actually work contain argan oil. The oil is rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, and unsaturated fatty acids that work to bring a healthy glow back to your face and erase scarring. Other components of argan oil have anti-inflammatory properties, making this the most unique oil in the world.

If you have ever used argan oil for any of its purposes then you know how immensely aromatic the oil is. The fact that argan oil is great for your skin and is naturally very fragrant, this makes it perfect for use in soaps. So far, only handmade soaps containing argan oil are currently on the market. This ensures the quality of any argan oil soap you find. These are made by the indigenous Berber women who work to produce the precious oil. In fact, it is so difficult to make argan oil that it takes over 24 hours and six to seven argan trees to make a single liter oil (no wonder it’s so expensive!) Only Morocco is currently producing these soaps however other companies are buying out the rights and getting the same soap. That is to say, companies are buying Moroccan made argan oil soap and redistributing them to the public under different labels.

The benefit of having argan oil in soap is that will work in accompaniment of other oils. Argan oil soaps that are blended with lavender oil have moisturizing properties as well as skin treatment. In order to obtain the most aromatic experience out of your soap, mix jojoba oil with your bathing routine. This combination has actually been utilized in aroma therapy sessions, scientifically proven to reduce stress. Adding tea tree oil to soap will have the capacity to treat skin infections. Lavender and rosemary oils when combined with argan oil are a great way to treat scalp irritation or dandruff. Being that argan oil has highly concentrated properties, be sure to use it sparingly.
